Tech Alert: McAfee False Positive Leads to Downtime

Did you receive this e-mail too? Symantec is trying to convince everybody that what happened with McAfee, will never happen with them:

In addition, Symantec leverages its unparalleled network of sensors and automated processes to test each new signature database against millions of known clean files before releasing to the market.

Let's just hope they can keep their promise. Symantec has had enough problems with their own software, so excuse me for not having high hopes.

Marketing is everything

This is a good example of how smart marketing can hide one's own flaws by pointing out those of the competition. Also, give a 45% discount, and people might actually trust you with their computers.

I'm just not buying it (pun intended).
